ViSCOUS BBS

The state of the ViSCOUS BBS is, well, no state at all, it seems that I
haven't enough money to buy the extra phone lines neccessary to support it.
If anyone is interested in helping out with this project take a look at the
application form later in this DOC (I don't need donations or anything).

SCOPE OF DEVELOPMENT

In its humble beginnings ViSCOUS Software was just a bunch of yahoos sitting
in front of a computer making DooM (2) levels, and we've really stuck to our
roots. But now we're branching out into other fields and you can find a lot
more now in the catalog, like the Tie Fighter episode, the RPGs, Warcraft 2
.PUDs, and some other cool stuff. But don't worry we still have the WADS.
We also were thinking of publishing a couple short stories in the newsletter
if you have any opinions or stories send them to
                                      Midtown@the-wire.com

APPLICATIONS

Okie Dokie, here's where you can sign on, so to speak.
If you wish to become a contributing member to ViSCOUS Software, in otherwords
collaborating on projects, and having your own stuff be distributed by, and
advertised by ViSCOUS then just fill out the application form found in
APPLY.TXT.

STUFF WE WANT TO TELL YOU BUT DOESN'T REALLY FIT

Id
As of course all of you know Quake (DooM 3) is coming, actually the release
was supposed to be around Christmas, but I guess you can't blame Romero et al.,
they are working extremely hard on this project. Some screenshots are
available from numerous WEB sites and you can also pick them up from our
Catalog. There is a BETA version floating around and we sould have that by
March's Issue, but we'll keep you posted on the mailing list.

LucasArts
This summer I sent numerous mail messages to the LucasArts address with
some interesting results. I confirmed many of the rumors that Lawrence
Holland & Edward Kilham will be making a third installment of the X-Wing
trilogy, this will be a Privateer type game where you are a pirate taking no
sides. The ships available in this game should be really cool, probably
have all of the smuggling ships and the bounty hunter ships, like Boba
Fett's Slave-1, should be a great game. LucasArts is also investigating
the possibility of Network and Modem game upgrades for both X-Wing and Tie
Fighter. I will try to find out more about these and other upcomming LucasArts
games in the next newsletter.
The LucasArts E-mail address is 75300.454@compuserve.com
              WEBpage is www.lucasarts.com

Blizzard
I recently visited the Blizzard homepage on the Web and got word of two new
games on the way. The first, Pax Imperia 2 is a space strategy game, the
sequel to the smash hit MAC game of a while ago, it has some stunning
cinematic scenes that would make even Wing Commander 3 blush. The next game
is Diablo, where you are a theif, this is more of a MYST style graphical
adventure, again some really good cutscenes. I'll contact the Blizzard
page again before the next issue, and give a more in depth analysis of these
games.

VISC-RPG.ZIP An RPG written in BASIC a couple of years ago. The
medieval setting gives a choice of elves, mages, and
warriors. The game has some very humourous dialogue
and situations that some people with no sense of
                          humour may find offensive.
