This document is meant to provide answers to questions I believe
might come up during installation/playing/uninstalling. No game playing
hints here.

Q: What do I need to play Star Ship ATC?
A: You need to have Doom2, the registered version, preferably v1.9. You need
to have unzipped SSATC1.ZIP AND SSATC2.ZIP in your Doom2 directory. You need
DeHackEd v3.0a and DeuSF v3.8 (both are provided). It is helpful to have
Doom2 mix at least 6 sound effects (check README.1ST for instructions on how
to do this). You need 5.5 megs free on your hard drive (3.8 megs if you
delete SSATC.ZIP after unzipping it).

Q: Okay, I've got all that stuff. How do I turn it into a playable WAD?
A: Run INSTALL.BAT.

Q: During INSTALL.BAT, it says it can't find one of the files that it needs!
What's going on?
A: You NEED to unzip SSATC1.ZIP AND SSATC2.ZIP in your Doom2 directory. You
NEED DOOM2.EXE and DOOM2.WAD. Do not move ANY of the files unzipped from
SSATC1.ZIP and SSATC2.ZIP!

Q: During load-up, I get something like "R_InitTextures: Missing patch in
texture XXXXXX@" (where X=texture name). What's wrong?
A: You need to play with Doom2, not the original Doom.

Q: When I try to play Star Ship ATC, Doom2 freezes during the "R_Init: Init
DOOM refresh daemon" thing. What happened?
A: Most likely, the cause is that Doom2 found some texture in a level that is
not in the DOOM.WAD or in the external WAD files. To correct this, make sure
you have run INSTALL.BAT, or that you haven't uninstalled Star Ship ATC. If
you have run INSTALL.BAT and it still does this, try running UNINSTAL.BAT,
then re-installing it. If you've already uninstalled Star Ship ATC,
re-install it. If you're sure you already installed it without uninstalling,
then try this: type "deusf -res" (minus the quotations, press enter), and
then "deusf -merge ssatcgfx.wad" (minus the quotations, press enter). Try
running Doom2 again.

Q: When I try to play Star Ship ATC, Doom2 crashes back to DOS with something
like: "R_FlatNumForName: PLATE1 not found." What's going on?
A: SSATCGFX.WAD was not merged with DOOM2.WAD. Either re-install Star Ship
ATC or type "deusf -res" (minus quotations, press enter) and then "deusf
-merge ssatcgfx.wad" (minus quotations, press enter).

Q: When I'm playing, the sounds get totally messed up. I hear a CyberDemon,
Arachnotrons, and Arch-Viles when I shouldn't! What's going on?
A: Two things could be the problem:
One: The DeHackEd patch SSATC.DEH is not working correctly. To fix this,
either re-install Star Ship ATC, or just try "dehacked -reload -load
ssatc.deh" (make sure you run Star Ship ATC with DOOMHACK.EXE and not
DOOM2.EXE!). Make sure you have DeHackEd v3.0a! Make sure you have edited
DEHACKED.INI and put in your directories!!!
Two: The sound WAD file is not working correctly. To get this to work, all
you need to do is run Doom2 with the -file parameter, including SSATCSND.WAD.
It's easiest if you just run SSATCx.BAT, but if you like to do it yourself,
then type "doomhack -file ssatc.wad ssatcsnd.wad -warp 06 -skill x" where x =
the difficulty level you want to play (1-5).

Q: Doom2 crashes when I try to watch a demo! What happened?
A: You have a different version of Doom2 than I do. To watch the demos, you
need v1.9 (or you can get a demo version changer).

Q: How do I uninstall Star Ship ATC?
A: Run UNINSTAL.BAT.

Q: How do I register Star Ship ATC?
A: Huh? Why would you want to register Freeware? I've never seen a WAD that
needed to be registered. If you are some kind of strange person who deeply
feels the need to register EVERYthing having to do with computers, you can
send me money (any amount you want) at:
        Kyle Smith
        4116 Mescale Rd.
        Riverside CA 92504
Q: I love this WAD!! Is there going to be a sequel? Do you have other WADs
out there?
A: Yes, I have other WADs for Doom2, but they suck compared to this one. I
have a WAD for Hexen, ARISYTH.WAD, in the making, but I use DETH/HETH, and
right now, there is no version that works with win95, so I have no idea if
I'll ever finish it.
