                        Emil Zanettin - DOOM MASTER

Controls Used: The humble keyboard is my weapon of choice. Not the best
control for DOOM, but one that I've gotten used to.

System Used: 386 DX33 - yes a 386, low detail, reduced screen, I have eye
strain from squinting at those little funny shapes that keep
             moving around the screen -
1MG Trident VGA, GUS Sound Card (the greatest!)....
120MB hard drive....40 Watt amp with speakers....9-pin printer...

Version of DOOM: 1.2 ORIGINAL (I paid for it!)

NOTE: to run e3m7.lmp and e1m4.lmp you must first rename them to:

                           exam1.lmp

After doing e2m8 I made a batch file so that I wouldn't have to type
all those devparm parameters, and the batch file saved the recordings
as exam1.lmp which I later renamed. Afterwards I found out that DOOM
gets an error if you replay a demo under a different name.
      Sorry about the stuff up.

E1M4 Command Control
Not a very hard level. I had a bad start and was injured a bit. Being boxed
into that little entrance room was a big mistake. This first .lmp shows
my style of play. I don't run around like a headless chicken like most DOOM
players do, I prefer to take my time and systematically clean up the bad guys.
As well as this I like the monsters to come to me as can be seen from the
blue door entrance to the maze. Obviously I have a tough time playing
Nightmare. I tried to use the barrels as much as I could (love them exploding
barrels!). I went a bit wild on the chaingun. At the end, just before the
exit, there is a long pause. This is because I was checking the map to make
sure I didn't miss anything.

E2M8 Tower of Babel
Well, another long and tedious .lmp to watch.
As can be seen, I don't like getting to close to the CyberDemon. Apart from
him hurling rockets at you (which I can dodge reasonably well), you have to
watch out for rockets exploding against a nearby wall. So, I prefer to tackle
the Big Guy from range. A couple of times, the CyberDemon got stuck in those
little rooms, but I wasn't about to go in after him! I listen a lot to the
monster sounds, to try and find out where they are, that's why I seem to
wander around aimlessly. My fire control was pretty bad and I wasted a lot of
ammo. All in all it wasn't a bad performance, except timewise of course.

E3M7 Limbo
I liked doing this level, because it's a good puzzle. This level also has
one of the more harder starts with those sargents (they hit HARD!). I forgot
to do my authentication dance at the start, so I did it just before fighting
the Baron. After fighting the Baron, I waited at the second demon
faced door for the CacoDemon in the maze to come out, and after he didn't I
went in after him. I think I did an OK job, I waited for the Lost Soulds to
kill each other, but I ended up leaving three. The BFG sure comes in handy!
Again, my fire control was lacking. After going through the last teleporter,
I paused and waited for the radsuit to wear off. I did this because DOOM has
been getting errors and terminating often when I was wearing the radsuit,
in fact this .lmp is about the tenth one I did! To that end, I waited until
the radsuit wore off before doing anything else.

FREE.LMP E3M1 Hell Keep
How's this for saving ammo! Admittedly, I did waste a couple of rounds on the
shotty, but overall, a real ammo saving level. I was lucky on two accounts:
1. I got through the Imp room at the end of the descending bridge with no
    trouble.
2. The Imps killed the Cacodemon in the on tree courtyard.
I forgot to draw the first Demon out and get him attacking the Cacodemons,
which is what I usually do. In all the excitement I almost forgot the dance,
so it's at the end. A lot of running around, but it was worth it in the end!
