  1.INTRODUCTION
Finally, we made it! This is the version 1.8 of The Parallel Dimension,
and hopefully the last one. The cause of this update for our already
released TC is simple: with the killing deadline we had in the making of
1.7, we didn't manage to put in everything we wanted to, like the changes
we made with DeHackEd (note: thanks to everyone who e-mailed to us the
solution for how to make .DEH files work with Boom), and those 4 demos in
    the startup.
We also received e-mails about the bugs in 1.7, which are the following:

-Segmentation Violation: our levels had quite a lot of "sector not
closed" errors and some others, which caused Parallel to crash
        randomly on the later levels

-Texture alignments: ok, ok, this isn't the most important thing in
the world, but matters in Doom levels. Correct texture alignmenting
gives the levels a professional look and feel, and we noticed how
many alignment "errors" our levels had only when a guy noticed it
to us. Again, thanks for the feedback

-Monsters missing in some places: yep, in the final days, our work was
pretty hectic, and happened that we forgot to "fill" some parts of
        some levels

-The rocket launcher wasn't available soon enough on Ultra-Violence:
hey! What kind of bug is that? Well, it ain't a bug, it's just that
we had some complaints about that, and I guess we got to make your
life easier. The rocket launcher is now more visible in the first
level where it's available. We also changed some pretty impossible
to find secrets with a little more logical solutions

-Plus other little bugs I don't remember now

  2.WHAT IS PARALLEL DIMENSION ?

Parallel Dimension is another Doom .WAD.It's an full episode that
substitutes Doom's second episode, The Shores Of Hell. It features
9 new levels and uses Team TNT's Doom engine modification, Boom.
In other words, you need Boom to play our levels. You can try playing
The Parallel Dimension with normal Doom, but you'd get a visplane over-
flow in say, every room (well, almost. Some levels work even fine without
Boom), and you would miss all the great features like translucent walls,
scrolling floors, deep water etc. Luckily, Boom isn't so big (zipped)
after all, and you can download it from www.teamtnt.com

There are some new graphics, like different colored windows that use
Boom's translucency feature, but nothing really revolutional.
We wanted to keep up the atmosphere that's in Doom, and textures done
with our artistical capabilities would have ruined it. There are some
new musics, and they are musics from Doom, Doom II and Final Doom.
We also made some changes with DeHackEd, like gibbable bodies (impaled
and those that hang on the ceilings), level names and cheat codes, and
these changes are finally working in the version 1.8.
Remember to visit our website for incoming updates.

  3.CHANGES

What's new since The Parallel Dimension 1.7

-fixed every bug in every level (now Deth's error checker is pretty
        quiet)
-fixed texture alignment "errors" (well, almost all. There may be
        still some walls badly aligned)
-more monsters and bonuses added in some levels
       -DeHackEd changes added. These include:
Level names on automap are now correct
Gibbable corpses (hanging and impaled bodies)
           Gibbable demons (but not spectres)
Some changed cheat codes (the most important are still the
           same, though)
Changed ending text (that after you finish our episode, you
           finally know what happens)
        -some new graphics added
        -Doom's 4 demos replaced

  4.HOW TO INSTALL THIS WAD

So, you've spent time enough downloading this, and now want to play, eh?
This is simple: just unzip PD18.ZIP in the directory where your copy of
Ultimate Doom and Boom is located, and type: PARALLEL

We strongly recommend that your DOOM, BOOM, PARALLEL.WAD and PARALLEL.DEH
are all in the SAME directory. That makes things a lot more easy for you.

However, IF Doom, Boom and Parallel Dimension aren't all in
the same directory, you've got to go in the directory where your copy of
    Boom is, and type this:

BOOM -IWAD Directory where Doom is -FILE Directory where PARALLEL.WAD
is -DEH Directory where PARALLEL.DEH is (usually the same as
    PARALLEL.WAD
    (e.g. BOOM -IWAD c:\games\doom -file c:\games\parallel\parallel.wad -DEH
    c:\games\parallel\parallel)

  5.THE STORY SO FAR...

After the last catastrophe on the moon base of Jupiter -a conflict where
you were the sole survivor, UAC learned their lesson, and gave an order
to demolish every base in space containig any kind of slipgate technology.
Only some mineral-mining bases were left on the two moons of Saturn, En-
celadus and Tethys. All marines were called back on Earth for easy duties.
Quietly, UAC slipped out of public eye.
Months later, you, while you were enjoying your vacation on a Hawaian
beach, were called along other high-trained marines on the UAC's main base
in the Mojave desert in Nevada, USA. At the base, you were called up among
with the others in a briefing room. Three scientists started explaining
the cause of your sudden calling. "During these months of silence, we
started a research to find the origin of those horrendous beasts that
attacked our bases on Mars, Jupiter and Earth. From the remains of those
battles we got proves that demonstrated that our newest theory is true:
those demons aren't from another world or planet, but from an another
dimension. The Parallel Dimension. From the birth of the human civilization
, this dimension already existed with a civilization, too. The beings on
that dimension were normal humans like us, as intelligent as us, but...
far more aggressive and violent. With time the human race in that dimen-
sion evolved like us. We calculated that in 1950 they invented the atomic
bomb, which was not unusual, because we had already invented it, too.
The only difference is, that we have atomic bombs, but we don't use them.
These guys in the other dimension were so aggressive, that a little spark
was enough to start a world war. And in 1960 it happened. They started a
nuclear war. As a result, all the population's constructions were semi-
destroyed. All the population was dead or suffered mutations. These mu-
tations turned the alive part of the population into flesh-eating demons.
Their civilization was almost destroyed. Only ruins of a human race was
left. The dimension became a hell, with hell's habitants. Altough they
mutated into cannibal monstrousities, a little bit of intelligence was
still left on some of them. These individuals found some slipgates they
had constructed decades ago, and were still functionally, and started
using them to attack us and our dimension. The rest, as they say, is
history. Here is where you enter, soldiers. This time it's we who are
gonna attack them! With this new perfect slipgate we've constructed, a
commando squad will enter the Parallel Dimension. You'll carry with you
this fusion-based atomic bomb, that has enough firepower to the whole
population of that damn dimension. When you enter their dimension, you
should be in some kind of laboratory complex. You just put the bomb
device on a fusion generator inside the lab and initiate it. Within
10 seconds the Parallel Dimension will be no more. Before the bomb
explodes, you'll return and and be received as heroes. Sounds all clear?
Okay, let's start the procedures! Operation Parallel Strike preparing
    phase one!"
While the other marines prepare for the mission, you suddenly get an
urgent need to go in the toilet. When you have your basic needs done,
and enter the room where the slipgate is, you see that the 9 other
marines have already entered the slipgate! Wait for me! Quickly, you
    enter the slipgate, hoping
that it's gonna be easy. After minutes in a mix of vacuum and bright
stars and flashes, you exit from the slipgate in the Parallel Dimension,
and find yourself in a firefight with those demons. They were somehow ex-
pecting your arrival, and killed the squad with the bomb, and are now
slaughtering the last ones in your 9-men squad. You quickly turn back,
only to see that the contact with your world is lost. Filled with rage
you attack the beasts that killed your buddies, and realize that your
only chance to get back, and live sane for the rest of your life is to
find that fusion bomb, blow this dimension and return home.
    Again, alone.
