[1] SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

Unlike most maps made for the game, this map, like many other newer
REoL TOUGH maps, require a faster processor for optimum performance.
These are the requirements for various scnerios:

     640x480, no slowdown:
     -----------------------
     766MHz Intel/Athlon
     32MB RAM

     640x480, some slowdown:
     -----------------------
     Pentium 3/666MHz
     32MB RAM, 64MB helps

     640x480, decent speed:
     -----------------------
     P2/P3 450MHz
     32MB RAM, 64MB helps

     Playable (320x200):
     -----------------------
     Pentium 266MHz
     32MB RAM, needs more?
     lower detail setting
=============================================================================
        {A} Gameplay Improvements

Framerates are pretty much fixed. This requiring ZDooM 1.23 and up
(supporting slopes), no other port will work. If you want better
performance, either shrink the game window down or reduce detail. One
other option (which is very unpopular) is to reduce your resolution.*
Finally, you can always try ZDooMGL, if slopes are supported.
The X-treme Detail(tm) used (non-sloped areas) is much greater than
any other REoL TOUGH map, including Future Unveiled (6fiffy3.zip). If
your PC had a hard time with that map, it's going to really hurt on
this one in places. PC's are a lot faster than the Future Unveiled
era, and the average PC being about 600MHz, archetecture is designed
to support that. Granted, the slowdowns will not be often, but they
are there. You've been warned, so no complaints, okay? :)

*Your default ZDooM rez won't change if you lower your rez (provided
you saved that setting), so when ZDooM restarts, it'll be where you
like it, so there's no excuse for not lowering it for this map if
        things crawl.
=============================================================================

        {B} If Playability REALLY Sucks

Let's face it, you have an Amish PC on your hands. Get a decent
one for DooMing for as little as $500. If you don't have deep
wallets, try the following to really help you out:

          * Check to see if you have a good 3D accelerator under the hood,
and grab a copy of ZDooMGL (available from most major DooM
sites). The Voodoo and TNT2 cards tend to yield better results,
but DO NOT USE THE RAGE PRO CHIPSET (Slower, that's why).

          * If you're running ZDooMGL with improvement in rates, you may
still need to drop your rez down to as low as 320x200, and if
            supported, reduce the window size.

        {B} ABOUT SAVEGAMES

Savegames in ZDooM has always been fairly shaky, depending upon
which version of ZDooM you have. Sometimes the feature works well,
sometimes it's intermitant, and doesn't work at all on others.
A good idea is to save your progress and see if it'll load. If it
sucessfully loads, save the game again in a backup slot. This way,
if there's an intermitant version of the port around, you'll have
a working savegame to fall back upon if the main slot fails for
some odd reason (learned that the hard way awhile ago, another
          port version, though).
=============================================================================
        {C} Distribution of Materials

Materials may be distributed freely among others through any
electronic means, and use or redistribute in any acceptable manner
per id Software Liscense Aggreement, unless granted permission by
id is given otherwise. This product was distributed in 100%
compliance of the aggreement, from the REoL TOUGH Executive
Offices, thus any lawful wrongdoing, if applicable, is of the
responsibility of the last distributor who violated the aggreement.
=============================================================================
        {D} Use of Materials:

Users may feel free to base, modify, or totally gut and rebuild
this map in any way the end user sees fit. The end user must give
proper credit to those who have created the original materials.
Failure to give credit is in violation of U.S. Copyright laws,
which protects original postings of electronic means. Also, you
will look like a total idiot. :)

[3] THE STORY:

It seems every time you kill of the Hellspawn that threatens the
Earth, you usually have another mission to accomplish. It's been awhile,
and still, no demon attacks. You figure Hell must've finally learned
their lesson, and that the United Aerospace Corporation is one that
     should not be messed with.
You get home and watch Friends in the comfort of your own home, but
you KNOW that phone will ring, especially when the shows are getting
interresting. Surprisingly, no phone ringing. It's been a few months
now, you you HAVE to wonder if they really DID learn their lesson, or
something is being planned far worse than anything the Earth has seen.
After getting a shivering feeling, you realize it's time to stop eating
your Bon-Bons and watch Lifetime for the rest of the night.
Still, you wonder what must be going on, but still, months after,
absolutely nothing. Now you're nervous, and decide to call the Colonel.
"Colonel, has anything come up lately? It's been quiet for several
     months, which is very abmormal."
"I heard nothing, except that my Popcorn Chicken is selling quite well!"
"You mean after all this time, they are finally finished with invading
     the Earth?"
"Apperently, they must have. No tremors, no reports, nothing."
"Okay. I guess it's finally over." You hang up the phone.
You wake up the next morning to watch some British TV stations, but
notice you're getting no signal. Yoiu change the channels, but all the
other stations come in, but the Euro ones are dead. You call the U.S.
Embasies over there, and there's no answer. You try to fax things, but
the machines won't send. Europe seems to be wiped off the face of the
     Earth, communications-wise.
"Colonel, Europe MUST be in trouble!"
"Must be a massive power failure. I can't fax or get E-mail to them!"
"I think Hell is paying us another visit. I'm going."
"There's no Hell in Europe. Stay home."
"I AM GOING! SOMETHIN IS WRONG!!" You slam down the phone and leave.
After ariving in Europe, you see all the stores and buildings are
vacant. Nobody anywhere. Some buildings are burning, some vandalized,
and the smell of rotten meat is in the air. You turn the corner and
discover the horable truth, that Hell has indeed come back, and has
taken over Europe! Looks like you're too late, too, because you see the
Hellspawn leave into an old fortress compound atop a small hill. You
decide that they should pay for what they've done, and want to pay them
a visit, with revenge on your mind, for nearly wiping out portions of
Europe, and totally wiping out communications.
You are about to communicate a new message to them, but the question
     remains:
        ARE YOU GOING TO SUCEED?!

[4] PLAYING THE MAP:

     * Place the 6FIFFY6.WAD file into a directory which you load PWADS
       (usually, in the C:\DOOM2 one).

     * To start the game, enter
       ZDOOM -FILE 6FIFFY6.WAD

     * To start the game with the PWAD in another directory, like
       C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\DOOMCRAP <-- just an example
       ZDOOM -FILE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\DOOMCRAP\6FIFFY6.WAD

[5] TIPS FOR SURVIVAL:

     * When you start your way through the map, you'll note monster plcement
for a REoL TOUGH map is abnormally light (like a lot of levels are).
Don't get to used to it, because it'll come back to the slaughterfest
you know and love (or for some freaks, hate).

     * Before you totally leave an area, check ever nook and cranny you have
access to, because you may be missing something(s) you will definately
       need!

     * Don't stop to look at the "beautiful" planting beds in the courtyards,
because they are actually well placed booby traps, in which you'll get
tangled into because you're too busy looking up fighting beaties. I
guess keeping them in view doesn't hurt.

     * Unless you're very lucky, you won't have enough ceartain ammo to beat
a ceartain enemy, but you got enough shells and bullets to take him
out, and easilly anything else, onward.

     * If there seems to be way too much ammo around for the enemies that
populate a ceartain spot, chances are, there's a good reason for it.

     * NO SECRETS ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE MAP! However, there are some
obscure switches here and there (in view) you need to throw to open
       areas further down the road.

     * Sometimes, JUMPING can help to reach needed ammo from ceartain spots.

     * Three secrets await you. Can you find them? There are no clues as to
where they are, and are not always in places secrets would mormally be
found on most maps by others.

[6] KNOWN BOO-BOO'S:

     * An Arch-Ville was replaced because he could firebomb you through thick
walls somehow. Still a tough fight, maybe not as.

     * The first courtyard and stone "cathedral" (coming out of the water)
seem to crash the game in RARE INSTANCES. Save any signifigant
progress, maybe in another backup slot, just in case.

[9] PARTING WORDS:

Thanks for giving HALLS OF HORROR a try. This was the first ZDooM map I
ever made, taking advantage of BooM's detailing abilities, and ZDooM's
slopes. Converting the map over to ZDooM, plus relearning how to use
HeXeN triggers again, caused this project to be delayed for many months.
Also, the detail in spots also took days at a time, plus days to set all
the arches right (then copied when correct).

Thanks once again, and as always, Have a nice DooMsday!
