Substitutions? NONE
System used: 486DX/2 66Mhz PCI (12Mb), VESA V7 1Mb video card, SB16 soundcard
Controls used: Keyboard, redefined as follows:
            z : Fire
            \ : Activate
Control : Strafe on - it's close to the cursor keys, so you can
strafe & move with the right hand alone
        L Shift : Run

All other keys as defaults. Observant readers may note the differences
between this layout and my usual, D1M, keys. This is because I need to
keep the Run key permanently pressed when you play -fast!

Free interpretation:
E3M8 UV -fast No shots fired, no hits taken, 25% kill (You-know-who)

Comments:

The levels : E3M9 14:04 A charmless slogathon. This level shows off my
execrable rocket technique in all its glory.
Highlight: herding the third Cacodemon to die
in a heap with his buddies. Cost me a few
unnecessary hits to do it, but he had to die.
E3M5 18:12 This level is great for letting the DooMies
slaughter each other. I thoroughly abuse their
propensity to shoot/flame/munch anyone who hurts
them. With -fast they're much more likely to
stand there and shoot it out. They may have
                             line-of-sight but they don't have line-of-fire...
E1M7 17:31 What a manic start! Once that's over and you know
there's no-one left behind you (and believe me,
I checked!) you can proceed almost at leisure
with the rest of the level. Watch out for
windows though, as hordes of rapid firing
shotguns and rifles are bound to score a few
hits, even from outrageous distances. I couldn't
believe I got hit when I was in the chainsaw
room! I couldn't even see him!
Addition to Base:

               E3M2 16:04 Medium. A crazy run-round-the-maze extravaganza
where you have to hunt for ammo and, in my case,
health! I kept forgetting those damn spectres
in the little (pinky? :) ) finger...
Free Interpretation:

E3M8 01:50? I am by nature a lazy man. Why should I do all
the work? I let a triple cross-fire take care
of old brainy-legs. As all the DooMies get
trigger-happy with -fast it's a lot easier to
get them to shoot each other. I don't fulfill
the criteria for Grandmaster (100% kill), but
I do get cheap laughs aplenty!

Author info:

"Don't think of it as being vastly outnumbered, think of it as
having a very wide shot selection."
                                 - Generalissimo Puerco, Phoenix Command

I really had to break down my technique and rebuild it for D1GM. No more
slugging it out with pinkies, no more calm(ish) shot selection, just put your
head down and run for it! The shotgun may be King of D1M, but the chaingun
rules when -fast is in town...

This is it. By the end of the week I'll have cleared my desk and lost my
Internet connection. This will be my only legacy to the Netizens I leave
behind. Hmm. Never mind.

I'll be back!

Jon
