Upgrade to version. Now this is v4.8 (v4.9 see below...)
General revision and support for the new and old
improvements of WinTex.
All the screens of WinTex has been centered. Considering
an 800x600 resolution.
Changed some parameters to adapt the program to the new
Windows versions.
New option that allows to select "ZETH" as the Map
Editor.
Found bug in the Level section that avoid the user to
add a new (or different) editor utility. Fixed.
Modified the code in the Level section to make the control
of the program more flexible.
New option that allows to select "ZenNode" as the Nodes &
Blocks generator.
Likewise, a new option that allows to select "ZenNode" as
the Reject data builder.
Found bug in the Nodes & Blocks section that avoid the user
to add a new (or different) nodes utility. Fixed.
Found bug in the Reject table section that avoid the user to
add a new (or different) reject utility. Fixed.
Modified the code in the Reject table section that prevents
to select correctly the "Reject.Exe" file. By default, always
was displayed a window that asks for the name of an executable
program. Fixed.
Changed the procedure that generates the response file: "WTXPARAM".
Now it allows to generate the file and to place one parameter
per line.
(Thanks to Ty Halderman for his support at this point)
Lots of tests were done with the editors that WinTex can handle.
Likewise, some modifications were done to the "WinTex.ini" file
(through the WinTex program) to outbid the load of the programs.
Added opportune messages, to orient the user when defining his
level editors by the first time.
Found bug that allows WinTex to delete a Wad file when exiting
from the "Advanced/Edit Levels" menu. Fixed.
Now WinTex only eliminates the temporary files when the "Play Game"
option is used. By default the work directory for WinTex is "C:\>"
Found bug when entering the "Advanced/Edit Levels/Help - Zoom"
option that shows an incorrect message for the use of the mouse
buttons. Fixed.
It is highly laudable to check the "Appendix.txt" file for more
references about the editors, nodes and reject files used by WinTex.
Additionally it is attach the "Author.exe" file that is an Electronic
Presentation Card module from the author of the WinTex improvements.
Status: Complete.

   New WinTex 5.0 improvements
        by Javier Almenara

Upgrade to version. Now this is v5.0, Final Official Version.
This is a Professional Version of WinTex with some very interesting features.
These ones are in the principal screen of WinTex as follows:
This -September- version has added the next new feature,
(*)Added a new section - PAK Utilities. You will find it at:
File\PAK Utilities
Now you have some powerful utilities to perform your tasks with WinTex
in a very professional way! There are "four" new tools here:
The first two utilities (PAKHex,PAKList) will generate a report
("C:\Output.Txt") which you can view automatically using the Edit
Output.Txt option.
The PAKExtract option is divided in two sections as well:
PAKExtract One Object - this option will extract the content of one desired object
inside a PAK file (being this one from Quake, Quake II and HeXen II).
This option will show a register where you can enter the complete location of the
element you want to extract, then click the "Ok" button to accept this and extract it
from a chosen PAK file; the "Cancel" button aborts this process.
If you give "Enter" at the register you will get the complete content of the PAK file.
TIP: you can use the "Output.txt" file previously generated by the PAKList option to
copy (ctrl+c) the content of one element and then paste it (ctrl+v) at the register
(Your string maybe will look someting like this:
"models/weapons/g_blast/base.pcx" then copy this and paste it like in the way described
above).
PAKExtract All Objects - this option will extract the contents of all the objects
inside a PAK file (being this one from Quake, Quake II and HeXen II).
NOTE: the contents that you extract from any PAK file will be saved in your WinTex directory.
A plus, the User Utility that allow you to use your own tools and apply
them to the PAK files of your desire.
There is also an Edit Output.txt option to edit the results of some of
the PAK Utilities (listed above).
Please read below for more information about the Auxiliary Executable
Files that WinTex will handle for the PAK Utilities option.
(*)This version includes also a single option - The WinTex System Information.
You fill find it at:
Options\WinTex System Information
This will show a System Information brief detail.
Also I have included a Min Button to the WinTex Screen Protector. Read
below for more information about this point.
(*)Added a new section - WAD Utilities. You will find it at:
File\WAD Utilities
Now you have some powerful utilities to perform your tasks with WinTex
in a very professional way! There are "four" new tools here:
The first three utilities (WADHex,WADList,WADSpy) will generate a report
("C:\Output.Txt") which you can view automatically using the Edit
Output.Txt option.
The WADMirror utility will generate a copy of your original WAD file named
"C:\Mirror.Wad" which will contain the new converted map.
A plus, the User Utility that allow you to use your own tools and apply
them to the WAD files of your desire.
There is also an Edit Output.txt option to edit the results of some of
the WAD Utilities (listed above).
Please read below for more information about the Auxiliary Executable
Files that WinTex will handle for the WAD Utilities option.
(*)Added a DOS shell option. You will find it at:
File\DOS Shell
This is useful for those users who need a quick shell to the DOS prompt.
(*)Optimize the Quit option of the program. Now WinTex will ask the user,
if he(she) is really sure of exiting the program.
(...but who will like to abort such a good program man!? ;)
(*)Added a new WinTex Intro Logo option. You will find it at:
Options\WinTex Intro Logo
This is an executable file that will do a presentation of WinTex... also
with an appropiate music to fit like a background :)
(*)Added a new section - WinTex Screen Protector. You will find it at:
Options\WinTex Screen Protector
This will load the WinTex Screen Saver System which will enable
"eight" different modes of Screen Saver!
It will be a good idea to have the Tutorial mode of the program set to "on"
to view a brief description of the new WinTex options.
You will find this at:
Help\Tutorial mode
